Main research areas
programming languages
My aim is to provide methods to guarantee the correct behaviour of software. This incudes the methodology of deriving programs which provably satisfy formal specifications, as well as the description of the properties and semantics of programming languages, static analysis of source code (e.g. to discover bugs), and semantics preserving program transformation. I have a special interest for the concurrent, parallel and distributed programming paradigms.
quantum computing
Our research group studies programming technologies for quantum computers. We design programming languages and software development tools. We have created Piquasso (piquasso.com), a simulator of photonic quantum computers.
