Interruption of the Student Status

During the doctoral training, following the initial personal enrolment – but no later than the end of the registration period at the beginning of each training period (semester) – it is mandatory to declare in the Neptun system whether the doctoral student will continue their studies (i.e., remain in active status) or suspend them for a given semester (i.e., enter passive status). To request a passive status, a formal request must be submitted to the Informatics Doctoral Council via email at phd@inf.elte.hu.

Studies may be suspended for a maximum of two consecutive semesters. In the following third semester, the student must return to active status; otherwise, their student status will be terminated. Exception: Due to childbirth, and in accordance with the provisions of the Doctoral Regulations, a doctoral student may remain in passive status for up to six semesters. For each passive semester, the student must declare it in the Neptun system and submit the request accordingly.

Further details can be found in the University Doctoral Regulations and Doctoral School of Informatics - Organizational and Operational Rules.
