Improving the role of R+D+I in the higher education through institutional developments assisting intelligent specialization in Sopron and Szombathely

EFOP-3.6.1-16-2016-00018
Beneficiaries: University of Sopron (consortium leader), Eötvös Loránd University
Funding: 1 165 979 596 HUF
Launch date: 2017.01.01.
Completion date: 2022.12.31.

The project aimed to expand the research capacities of the Consortium members through smart specialization, develop their research services, enhance social innovation, strengthen the knowledge base function in the R&D sphere as a whole, and strengthen the quadruple helix collaborations by reinforcing the third mission of higher education.

Our working groups were engaged in curriculum development and promotion of publication activities, development of research and industrial services, emphasizing the area of innovative manufacturing technologies and energy applications, as well as raising awareness, which meant continuous interactions among the participants: university, industry, government and society.

At ELTE’s campus in Szombathely, the Research Group on Innovative Processing Technologies, Applications in Energy Engineering, and Wide-Range Microstructure Investigation Techniques dealt with innovative technologies that have not yet been implemented in industrial practice, however, might demonstrate the potential improvement of material properties. Another goal was to investigate the dynamic effects on energy conversion and transport systems and structures and their consequences, as well as to develop interventions that would reduce the damage caused by such effects.

The project has been supported by the European Union, co-financed by the European Social Fund.
