The Competence Centre for Software and Data-Intensive Services was established in 2019 with funding of 1 245 115 787 HUF (ELTE) and launch date of 1 February 2020. The completion date is 31 January 2024. The beneficiaries of the program are Eötvös Loránd University, Mediso Medical Imaging Systems Ltd., E-Group ICT Software Plc., and Data-Press Ltd.

The center's focus is on the increased importance of innovation capabilities as a key factor in economic performance and competitiveness. The rise of ICT technologies, including software-intensive systems, cloud computing, software security, data protection, data science, and artificial intelligence, has transformed cooperation and knowledge sharing between universities and companies in the innovation chain.

The center's activities are divided into two main areas: research infrastructure development and R&D&I activities tailored to local/regional industrial needs. These activities aim to develop new procedures, tested prototypes or marketable products, services, technological procedures, and provide business solutions to increase market efficiency and competitiveness. The focus areas include digital transformation of financial services, data science in digital banking, AI-based medical imaging, health data analysis, I4.0-based production technology, and modern IT solutions and services.

The Competence Centre is located at two sites, Budapest and Szombathely, and aims to provide a strong foundation for the long-term transformation of the Faculty into a powerful educational, reseach and innovation environment, incubating research results into commercially viable projects.
