Business Information Systems, Process Modelling and Blockchain Research Group
The core activities are related to enterprise architecture and information systems, business processes, workflow, and data analytics. Researching the formal and semi-formal modelling of information systems with the aim to integrate and operationalize in enterprises the most modern technologies, particularly financial services technologies, blockchain and more generally distributed ledger technologies, application of artificial intelligence and data science in business processes. Coupled with this research domain, the transparency and explainability (XAI) of decision-making in business processes after digital transformation is also examined.
Another activity carried out by the research group is related to knowledge-enhanced schema matching. Schema matching and mapping in healthcare information systems (HIS) face challenges due to the use of medical terms and acronyms and current methods struggle to resolve the semantic ambiguities and conflicts. As knowledge bases (KBs) could be utilized to enhance matching and mapping by containing class hierarchy and logical connections of knowledge, a knowledge-enhanced schema mapping framework for heterogeneous data integration is being explored
Enterprise Architecture; Business Process and Workflow Modelling and Management; Application of AI/ML and Data Science in Financial Industry; Formal modelling – Type Theory, Model Checking relational logic (Alloy); Distributed Ledger (DT) and blockchain technologies in business processes of companies; FinAI (Application of AI in Finance), XAI (eXpainable AI) in Finance; Compliance to the legal rules and regulations of authorities through the technologies of Computer Science; KnowledgeGraph that is utilised in Financial Services Technologies.
