About

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is a body of the European Union established in March 2008. Its mission is to increase European sustainable growth and competitiveness by reinforcing the innovation capacity of the EU. To do so, integrated Knowledge Innovation Communities (KIC) were created. A KIC is a highly integrated, creative and excellence-driven partnership which brings together the fields of education, technology, research, business and entrepreneurship, in order to produce new innovations.

EIT ICT Labs is one of the first three KICs. Its goal is to bring more innovation in the domain of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to market. Budapest is an Associate Node of EIT ICT Labs. It consists of three partners: Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), and Cisco Hungary Ltd. Participating in the Master's programme is one of the activities in the education action line of the Budapest Associate Node.

The EIT ICT Labs Master's education is a two-year programme (120 ECTS) at advanced level leading to a double Master's degree including a mandatory standardized Innovation & Enterpreneurship (I&E) minor (30 ECTS).

The first and second year of study have to be spent at different universities in different countries. Also an internship period for the students in a non-university organization is required, typically during the second year. The university where the first year is spent is the entry point university, the one where the second year is spent is the exit point university.

Upon fulfilment of all degree requirements, the students receive two degrees, one from each institution where (s)he has been studying.

The Master School offers 7 technical majors:

  • Human Computer Interaction and Design (HCID)
  • Digital Media Technology (DMT)
  • Service Design and Engineering (SDE)
  • Internet Technology and Architecture (ITA)
  • Ditributed Systems and Services (DSS)
  • Security and Privacy (SaP)
  • Embedded Systems (ES)

Eötvös Loránd University is an exit point for Service Design and Engineering (SDE) and Security and Privacy (SaP).
